What We Do
INTRODUCTION
As a community of believers, our goal is to deepen our faith, enhance our love for God, nurture our love for one another, and extend our care to those around us. To achieve this, we engage in various activities. Every week on Sunday, we hold a gathering to listen to God's word, to praise Him, to pray, and also to meet and build one another up.
Furthermore, we have Bible study evenings, prayer evenings, and offer pastoral care. We support initiatives for development aid and missionaries to reach other parts of the world with the gospel. Would you like to know more? Feel free to contact us or visit one of our services.
Alpha
LEARN ABOUT GOD
Alpha is a series of weekly social gatherings where, in an open, respectful and friendly atmosphere, we reflect on and discuss life and (re)discover the basics of the Christian faith. You can participate in Alpha whether you attend church or not, or even if you know little about the Christian faith.
At Alpha, we start together with a nice meal. Afterwards, it's time for a short, inspiring episode from the Alpha Film Series. The episode serves as an introduction, after which we discuss the topic of that episode together. There is room to ask questions and to exchange thoughts while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.
Currently, the Alpha course is offered exclusively in Dutch. However, once we gather a group of English-speaking participants, we will make the course available in English. If you are interested in joining the Alpha course as an English speaker, please let us know by sending us a quick email with your details.
Pastoral Care
Caring with Love and Compassion
Pastoral Care within the Bible Study Group
The first step in pastoral care within De Oase Venray takes place through the Bible study groups. This pastoral care is expressed in:
- Caring for the weak and the sick. For example: sending a card, visiting someone in hospital by group members, or making a home visit by group members and/or the group leader.
- Praying for one another. When concerns are shared during the Bible study evening, we pray for each other.
- Encouraging one another in mutual contact. We want to offer a listening ear, encourage, and build each other up. This can happen during the Bible study evening, but also when meeting over coffee after the service, or, for example, with a message or by dropping by. Support one another in keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus. In the storms, He is near.
Basic Care
For care that does not require immediate professional help but cannot be provided within the Bible study groups. The group leader is encouraged, if concerns arise that may become overwhelming for someone, to discuss this with the elders’ team. In addition, all church members may also approach the elders directly if care cannot, or cannot sufficiently, be given within the Bible study groups. Together, appropriate support will then be sought.
Professional Care
For individuals with serious psychological issues, we collaborate, when necessary, with Unfold Counselling in Buggenum. Unfold Counselling provides professional assistance for psychological complaints, for those struggling to cope with events, feelings, emotions, stress, relationships, or other current issues.

Giving
Contributing to De Oase
De Oase Venray supports activities aimed at spreading the Gospel, both locally and further afield. Your support helps churches in this mission and reaches more people. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), and whatever you decide to give in your heart enables us to do more for others, contributing to their salvation.
