An Evangelical Baptist Church
Close to God, close to people
God wants to be close to people. And people can get close to God. God sent His Son Jesus Christ and showed His heart for people through Him. Our response is to open our hearts to Him. We want to be a church in a modern society. A church close to God and a church close to people with a heart for God and a heart for people.
As a faith community, we want to grow in faith, in love for God, in love for each other, and for the people around us. To this end, we undertake a number of activities. We hold a service every Sunday to listen to God's Word, praise Him, pray, and also to meet and encourage each other. In addition, there are Bible study evenings, prayer meetings, and pastoral care.
We support initiatives for development aid and missionaries to reach other parts of the world with the gospel. Formerly known as the Bijbelgemeente Venray, De Oase holds a church service every Sunday at 10:00. English translation is available during our services. Our church is open to everyone who wants to follow Jesus.
Foundation
Rooted in Faith, Guided by God's Word
The congregation accepts as its foundation the Bible, namely all canonical books, as the inspired, authoritative Word of God. Therefore, it believes and confesses:
- there is one God, an infinitely perfect being, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
- Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. He was born of the virgin Mary and conceived by the Holy Spirit. He died on the cross as the Just for the unjust. Those who believe in Him as a substitute offering are all justified through redemption in Christ Jesus alone. He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures and is now seated at the right hand of God, interceding for us;
- The Holy Spirit is God, sent to dwell in believers, who together form the Church, the body of Christ, to guide, teach, and empower them. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and of judgment;
- The Bible consists of the Old and New Testaments, infallible in its original text, verbally inspired by God, and a complete revelation of His will concerning the salvation of mankind. The Bible alone has decisive authority in all matters, both in our personal lives and in the church.
- Humans are created in the image and likeness of God; but as a result of their disobedience, they were condemned to both physical and spiritual death, known as the Fall of man. All humans are born with a fallen nature that leads to sin, which separates them from God. The only way to be reconciled with God is through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. The future of the believer is the bodily resurrection to life, in the eternal glory and presence of God, while the future of the unbeliever is the bodily resurrection to judgment and an eternity separated from God.
- through Jesus, all of mankind can receive salvation for those who repent of their sins and believe in the atonement and resurrection of Christ. Such persons are born again through the conviction of the Holy Spirit and receive everlasting life as children of God according to the new covenant.
- it is God's will for every believer to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is received when we become reborn, making the believer a member of the body of Christ (commonly referred to as the baptism in the Spirit). God desires that the believer, being fully sanctified by Him, separates from sin to wholly dedicate themselves to His will, thereby receiving strength for a holy life and fruitful service
- The Church of Christ consists of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Body, His Church, which He has commissioned to go into the world as His witnesses, preaching the Gospel to all nations. The local church is a body of believers in Christ who come together to worship God, be edified by the Word of God, engage in prayer and fellowship, proclaim the Gospel, and celebrate both ordinances of Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper; the personal, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent to appear in glory with His Church, to establish His Kingdom forever.
